Marriage Programs for abandoned and poor girls -

The Centre has been undertaking a Family Support services project (Intensive Family services project) in Mumbai city for various types of dysfunctional families including families of 'children on the streets' and working children. The Foundation believes in the principle "Imparting lights to the future".

When the family is vulnerable, the child is vulnerable. When a family is dysfunctional, a support to build and strengthen it reduces the vulnerability and therefore of the child. The project aims at a holistic care approach to the girl's education and their marriage, ensure family strengthening and building which would prevent children to be at imminent risk.

An analysis of the causes has revealed the fact that lack of means of livelihood, marital disagreement, financial difficulties, death of spouse, problem of ill health of spouse (husband), alcoholic behavior of husband, domestic violence (wife/husband battering), lack of understanding of family values, shirking of family responsibility by the husband, and neurotic/psychotic behavior of spouse have resulted in families becoming 'dysfunctional'. Foundation helps them to get their girls married, with the aspiration of becoming good house wives and more caring and responsible towards their family.

Education Programs for girls -

Mission Education is a national level program from Shanti Foundation which focuses on basic education for underprivileged girls We believe that whether you are addressing healthcare, poverty, population control, unemployment or human rights, there's no better place to start than in the corridors of Education. Because education is both the means as well as the end to a better life: means, because it empowers an individual to earn his/her livelihood and the end because it increases one's awareness on a range of issues from healthcare to appropriate social behavior to understanding one's rights - and in the process evolve as a better citizen.
